The Library has organized its annual bookfair to sell all old, weeded and duplicate books. This was for three days from Monday 17/10/2011 to Wednesday 19/10/2011.
The library inaugurated a new section for lending the textbooks to university students on Monday 19-9-2011.
The collection covers 31 courses with a total of 340 volumes to serve 340 students.

Workshop on Open Access, and it’s positive impact on scientific research
Birzeit University Main Library has organized a workshop for two days 25-26/5/2009, about the free access of information, Through the Open Access software, and it’s positive impact on scientific research, also the aims , strategies and legal issues about the building of an Institutional Repository at Birzeit University.
The Workshop was attended by 40 participants from 6 Palestinian institutions.

Birzeit Main Library celebrating "Jerusalem The Cultural Capital 2009"
In celebrating "Jerusalem The Cultural Capital 2009". The Main Library has set up, many events and activities for three days. These included a book fair, a symposium on Jerusalem, and a workshop on the Emerald electronic database.
– Book Fair:
It lasted for three days from 5/5/2009 until 7/5/2009.Nine publishers participated in it, and was attended by hundreds of students, teachers,librarians and visitors.

The Library invited both Dr. Samih Hamouda, who delivered a lecture on: "Jerusalem between the Islamic civilized model and the Zionist model," The lecture by Dr. Samih Shabib was on:" On which Jerusalem we are talking?" During the symposium the library honored some Friends of the Library, teachers and students those are: Dr. Mohsen Youssef, Dr. Hussein Rimawi, Dr. Wasfi al-Kafri, the students are Dalal Mohammed Hajjeer , Hassan Abdel-Moneim Halaiqa and Hiba Jasser Asfur. Also three other students who work in the library were honored; they are: Rana Jamal Abu-Shareefeh, Hala Mashal Al-Barghouti, and Samer Jamal Hassan.

-A Workshop on Emerald Electronic database:
held on 6/5/2009 and delivered by two delegates from the Emerald Company, Mr. Eric Broug and Miss. Katy Oddy. Many librarians and interested people from within the university, and other universities attended this workshop, and were invited to a working lunch. The second part of the workshop was a live training on using the database for research.

The attendees were from the Main Library and its Branches, AL-Quds University and AL-Haq Institute.
Launching of the World Bank Public Information Center at BZU
Birzeit University, represented by President Dr. Nabeel Kassis and the World Bank, represented by Mr. Nigel Roberts, Country Director for the West Bank and Gaza signed a memorandum of agreement on June 16, 2005 to establish a World Bank Public Information Center (PIC) at the Yusuf Ahmed Al Ghanim Main Library at Birzeit University.
The official launching of the PIC took place with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a tour of the facility and a reception for the guests which included the University council, the Director and staff of the University Main Library, directors of the various University branch libraries, and representatives from a number of local and international research and development organizations.
Workshop on EBSCO database
Birzeit University Libary has organized a workshop on the use of "EBSCO Database". This was on 21/5/2005, and conducted by Mr. Nasser Saleh from AED( The Academy of Educational Development).
34 attendees joined the workshop; librarians, teachers, students, researchers and representatives from Al-Quds University Library.

Library Staff Contribution to Palestinian Society Under Seige, June 2002
Due to the Israeli on-going military actions (which denies BZU staff to reach the University) and the blockade of the Surda road, and as part of our contribution to the Palestinian society and institutions, BZU Main Library Staff have helped the Al-Haq special library in Ramallah in fixing their Card Catalog and other library materials that were damaged during the Israeli incursion in April 2002.
